SHC Glossary
Definitions on this page are intended to clarify communication throughout your SHC experience. There are three distinctions I've used to create this glossary. First, certain words or phrases have undisputed meaning, such as medical terminology, and may be supported with a link for reference. These are tagged as operational (specific values or measures), connotative (only true if all components are true), extensional (a complete list of what fits the definition), or recursive (it defines itself, sorry). The medical tag only applies to a simple understanding, absent any diagnostics. Second, the personal tag denotes my interpretation, intended meaning, and citations when possible. Third, and most difficult, I address common jargon you may have heard that I will never use, labeled disregard. These typically get thrown around excessively in everyday speech with a new connotation each time it's uttered (convenient for deception). My goal with this third variant is to assist your understanding as you explore other sources.
To help you identify nonsense on your own, the third type typically fails to have a contrast. Ask yourself, "What is the opposite?" Dark versus light; tall versus short; clean eating versus... dirty eating? If you cannot define what it is not, then there is no limit to what it is. How do you define something without limits?
Definitions are separated by priority, then ordered alphabetically. Use your browser's [ Ctrl + F ] function to search more efficiently.
